Sanyo Rice Cooker – ECJN55F Electronic Cooker & Steamer

April 2, 2010 – 5:11 pm

If you’re looking for a great but inexpensive rice cooker for either yourself or as a gift, this Sanyo Rice Cooker is what you want!

First of all, Sanyo has a great reputation for these.  While in most cases, I would never recommend a cheap rice cooker—because nearly every cheap one I have tried just makes a horrible mess of your rice—a Sanyo is a great choice from their lower end right up to their most expensive models.

This model comes without all the bells and whistles that other models have, but let me tell you, you are in no way short changed with the electronic model.  And it does still come with a steamer, slow cooker and a keep warm setting.

A Few Product Features:

5.5-cup electronic rice cooker and steamer. Easy-to-clean removable steam vent and dew collector. Keep-warm function – Automatically keeps rice warm and delicious after cooking. Two menu selections: cooks a variety of rice dishes, porridge and soups. Steaming tray for healthy preparation of steamed foods. Slow cook function for soup, stews, and porridge. Porridge lid to prevent boiling over. Easy-to-clean non-stick inner pot. Easy-to-use one-touch controls. Convenient carrying handle.

If you are interested in buying this Sanyo Rice Cooker, you can do so online through Amazon at this link here.  They generally offer it at a discount.

As mentioned this model has a keep warm function that does a great job of doing just that without your rice burning and sticking to the pot.  So, in my opinion, this is likely the best rice cooker you will find in this price range.

Here is what a few other owners have to say:

Smeggy:

I love my rice cooker :) It’s cute, it cooks rice wonderfully, it makes soup AND it comes with a food steamer insert. I haven’t tried steaming yet but i can say that the rice & soups are fantastic!

I was doing so much research on rice cookers prior to buying this. I really wanted a great quality machine & was going to shell out big bucks for a zojirushi rice cooker w/fuzzy logic. It seems everyone thinks they are the best. I noticed that their machines look VERY similar to Sanyo models. and i found some really good reviews for various sanyo rice cookers. This particular one wasn’t rated but this machine essentially looks identical to one that was (only difference i could see was that this one has the cute design on it) So i figured i’d give this one a try. I am VERY happy with this machine.  (read full review here)

When in the market for a rice cooker I took that chance on the Sanyo because I have a Sanyo bread machine that works every time, so easily. The rice cooker is no different. I have made rice, of course, but also split pea soup, steamed eggs in the steamer basket… (full review here)

Aroma Rice Cooker – 8 Cup Cool Touch Review

March 9, 2010 – 2:14 pm

If you are looking for a rice cooker that will give you flawless rice every time, and in quantities large enough for your entire family, then this Aroma rice cooker is the model for you!  Or maybe you know someone like that?  Then this would be a perfect gift.

And there’s more!  One of the best features of this cooker is that it is a steamer as well.  And both functions can be used at the same time.  That’s right!  While cooking up to 16 cups of cooked rice, you can steam your meat and/or vegetables at the same time.  So, if your time is precious, and you’d rather spend it with your family or doing something else, you need to have this rice cooker.

Here are some more of its key features:

  • Prepares up to 16 cups of cooked rice using 8 cups of uncooked rice
  • Steams meats and vegetables while simultaneously cooking rice for simple, healthy one-pot meals
  • 15-hour delay timer for flexible and convenient meal planning
  • Digital LED display for clear delay timer setting
  • Automatically keeps food warm, fresh and moist for up to 12 hours

If you are interested in buying an Aroma rice cooker, you can buy one online at amazon.com.  Here is a link to it.

Compared to other rice makers in this price range, this cooker is the way to go.  The added feature of a steamer makes this a great deal.

Another selling point is that this model has a timer, so you can set it up in advance.  It also has a stay cool exterior, which is always a nice addition to any kitchen appliance that heats up.

Let me share with you some reviews of other owners:

G. Shans:

This is a very, very good rice cooker. I have used it around a dozen times since buying it. I use Jasmine Rice from Walmart, and it tastes delicious. I rinse the rice in cold water before putting it into the rice cooker, and I haven’t once had scorched rice. (Read the complete review here.)

K. Condon:

I tried to carefully research all the options on Amazon for a rice cooker, and settled on this model though it was slightly more than I planned on paying… but the reviews were so nearly-unanimously fab – I had to get it. AND I LOVE IT!!! We have used it a ton for rice to go along with curry stews or stir-fries, but then have made extra rice several times so we can have cold rice to make FAB fried rice with. I honestly have yet to see a downside to this cooker…(read the complete review here)
